SOMEONE ELSE'S LIFE

About
After his infant daughter's second open-heart surgery, director Tommy Wood knew his baby's story must be told. And not just her story… but also the entire span of challenges that these "heart babies" face alongside their devoted parents and dedicated doctors. "It feels like I just stepped into 'Someone Else's Life,' is a comment we heard from many parents as we sat in the waiting room when our daughter Selma had her first surgery," says director Tommy Wood. He continues, "Those words became so much more to me... it wasn't the proverbial stranger's life that I walked into, but the life of my child—the one that was fighting to breathe. I had to be stronger than ever before and lay everything else aside for this little soul. When Selma came into our lives, all of our hearts were changed."
Purpose

Congenital heart defects are the number-one congenital disability, yet not enough is done to empower the best possible outcome. One family's journey through their child's three open-heart surgeries reminds us what it means to be the champion of someone else's life.
